Madhav Raghavan

I am currently a Technical Officer on the Joint Allocation Taskforce at the COVAX Facility, Geneva. I design the allocation mechanism and produce COVID-19 vaccine allocations for the Facility.

Until June 2021, I was a post-doctoral researcher (SNF Senior Researcher) at the Department of Economics, HEC, University of Lausanne, Switzerland, since January 2017. I worked with Prof. Bettina Klaus.

My research interests are in resource allocation and market design, (see research).

Education

  • I have a PhD in quantitative economics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi, India, completed in 2015. My thesis supervisor was Prof. Arunava Sen.

  • I obtained an M.A. in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, Delhi, India, in 2007.

  • I obtained a B.A. (Honours) in Economics from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 2005.

Teaching

I taught Mathematics for Economic Policy to first year Master's students at UNIL in Fall 2020, 2019 and 2018.

I taught Applied Mathematics to first year Master's students at UNIL in Fall 2018 and 2017.

Other Experience

  • Monitoring and Evaluations Coordinator for the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), a skill training and employment programme run by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. I was with the programme in 2014-16.

  • Strategy Analyst, JP Morgan India. I was part of the Emerging Market Equity Strategy team in 2007-08.
